Once you experience the personality, energy and love of a Patterdale Terrier, you will never go back!
Black Dog Kennel is a new kennel started in 2021 exclusively for Patterdale Terriers bred to hunt.
The owners, Wally and Sarah Mark, have a long history of working dogs, however; they were herding dogs, mainly border collies, Macnabs, and Australian shepherds. Transitioning to Patterdale Terriers was a move made out of the desire to work with a smaller sized breed with a large dog personality and toughness. Patterdales provide both of these.
We have never stressed over one of our dogs more than our Patterdales and our Patterdales have brought more laughter at their antics and more cuddles than our previous dogs.
The Patterdales are tougher to train, as they have a mind and personality of their own and are less inclined to want to please their owners all the time. Our herding dogs were much more interested in us and pleasing us, while the Patterdales often have their own agenda.
